1952 S.S. UNITED STATES SEA TRIALS BOOKLET- RARE

Description

Up for auction is a 1952 S.S. UNITED STATES Sea Trials booklet measuring 8 1/2" X 5 1/2". The booklet has 31 pages and in it is described what tests/trials were done from May 14 through 23, 1952. There are 8 pages that list the suppliers. The centerfold (5 1/2" X 17") is in color and shows a starboard view of the ship with principal characteristics in top left corner. Overall the booklet is in good condition for its age of 69 years. This booklet was published by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (NNS & DDC) and given to individuals who went on the sea trials. Above the word "Trials 1952" is the name B.E. Walker, who I assume was the one who went on the trials and possibly worked for the shipyard. On the rear cover is the name and address of a female, possibly Mr. Walkers wife, daughter, mother, or sister. I looked up the address and it is near the NNS & DDC in Newport News, VA. Both inscriptions are in light pencil. There are areas on the front and rear of the booklet that show some kind of damage, maybe from a bug. Front and rear have wear and spotting commensurate with age. Pages are bright and undamaged. Please examine pictures as they are part of the description. No sales outside continental USA.
