I was a volunteer for Santa Monica earthquake preparedness, where they recommended these safety products.
This could be the starter set for your emergency kit. The manuals will list the rest.
Included in this set:
*     12 Cabinet and Drawer safety latches - handy around little ones any time.
*     4 "Amazing Picture hooks" easy to install, secure for pictures and mirrors up to 100 lbs (follow instructions please)
*     2 Computer/printer/table TV earthquake fastener straps that attach to table or furniture. Will keep your unit from sliding out of the table.
*     4 CPU/recorder/VCR/DVD player fastening kit. Velcro padded blocks that attach at the bottom of the unit, out of sight.
*     QuakeHold Furniture safety straps, peel and press on the back of furniture, no holes needed. These could attach to the back of a bookcase and prevent it from toppling. In brown. Please follow instructions.
*     One bookshelf holder. Black strong elastic attaches to sides of shelf. Good for one shelf to prevent books from falling.
*     Main Gas Valve shutoff tool, fits 3/4" valves, zinc plated steel.
