    Description

    NOTICE,
as of 6-11-21:  The older style of "Black Diamond 'Classic' Trekking Pole Tip Protectors" shown on this product have been discontinued for a few years now, and I have just run out of them.  The NEW style currently available is shown in the last photo, and this item will ship with those installed.  I will update all photos showing the new style tip when I get a chance.
Presented here is a second variation of another listing, for ONE "Patent Pending" Grade 5 Titanium (6AL-4V Alloy) Easy-Carry, Quick-Deploy Belt Keeper Carriage "Door Knocker", with a secondary use as a Short (approx. 4-1/4" long) Self Defense Stick. It has it's roots in classic Yawara and Kubotan palm sticks.
(also useful as a "Pill Crusher" to crush and mix your medications into a liquid, for less stomach upset &/or faster absorption to ease that headache a little faster!  I use a bottle cap to crush the powder into. "Acupressure" procedures are also possible uses for this stick :-)
These are designed, hand made, and assembled in the USA by: "Ti Rod Tactical
    ™"
NOTE: The next to last photo shows both the
    Default
    smooth "Domed Tip", and the
    Optional
beveled edge "Flat Tip", with the DNA collector saw remnants left in the center. Most of these have sold with the Domed Tip, but I've had a few requests for the Flat Tip so I've added it as an OPTION.  Just send a note along with your Paypal Payment that you want the Flat Tip. :-)
It is an unfortunate reality of modern life that individuals are often assaulted by other people, and so feel the need to carry defensive weapons which can help them counteract the actions of an attacker.
This "door knocker" will provide a very useful
    secondary
self defense response for a very large group of individuals, whose day to day business activities take them into neighborhoods and households where they can be attacked and/or robbed without provocation.
A very large group of home delivery professionals, such as USPS Postal workers, UPS Drivers, FedEX drivers, Pizza delivery persons, etc. have to approach many households every day never really knowing what awaits them, ....and this is when there is usually good news (a package or food) being delivered!
In many of these jobs, carrying a knife or handgun for self defense is impossible and against company policy!
    Sometimes the worker is
    not
welcome at all, such as when a process server has to pass along legal papers, or a landlord has to inform the tenant he is being evicted, etc., and an irate "customer" has been known to become violent!
So,..... there is certainly a need for something that has a useful purpose ("door knocker") for these types of jobs, yet can be carried daily and deployed very quickly in a secondary defensive role should the worker suffer an unprovoked attack.
Carried daily and used as a benign looking practical tool, there is every reason to be carrying this in their day to day activities while on the job. Sometimes the homeowner or tenant is playing loud music, watching TV at a high volume, is on the phone, dealing with rowdy youngsters, or is distracted in any number of other ways and will not respond to the usual "knuckle" rap on the door.  (and not every doorbell works,.....mine included, or is loud enough to overcome the distraction :-)
This door knocker can provide a much amplified "rap" on the door with the titanium tip exposed, or a slightly less sharp knock using the rubber capped end that is louder than the bare knuckle. (and pain free!)
Over the course of days, weeks and years,......I suspect there can  be health related issues to the worker from repeated use of the their knuckles to alert the customer of their presence.
SO,....wearing this item during their work day any of those delivery personal will not only save their knuckles from unnecessary"wear and tear" (and possibly increase their productivity by obtaining a customer's response sooner than might otherwise occur),  ....but will also feel a little safer while doing their job knowing they can better defend themselves should a surprise attack be forthcoming.
As shown in the photos,  the stick is carried attached to a belt and connected to a reinforced rubber hose carriage component.  Worn this way, the stick can hang at the hip in a "benign" state that is nonthreatening to anyone, yet be instantly available for defensive use should the need arise.
    It can be worn
    inconspicuously
, with the stick hidden within the front pants pocket as shown. Carried this way it may appear to others simply a key ring belt keeper, but your fingers can easily retrieve the stick for either use as a door knocker or for self defense.
Also, this stick can be carried attached to your keys as shown in the last photo, by simply unsnapping the leather belt keeper to remove it,.... giving you a choice of carry modes as the item is sent.
An added benefit of this stick size (again with it's non threatening profile), is that you can opt to carry it around your neck totally in the open,....with an
    "optional"
black 3/32" mini paracord carriage replacing the key ring style retainer. These neck use carriages are available for just .00 additional, and I can add it to an updated invoice should you wish to have another way to carry this stick.
Throughout the worker's delivery rounds, making use of the
    rubber tipped
end to alert the household of your presence would be sufficient most times. (and much easier on the knuckles) The stick, "if" the
    optional
longer cord neck carriage were utilized,....would seldom need to be removed from the carriage to make use of the louder bare tip end,......and most days would begin and end like this.
However, on those rare occasions where the delivery worker suffers an unprovoked attack while performing their duties, there IS now a self defense tool at your immediate disposal!
    It's
    primary
role is that of a "door knocker", since it is used almost exclusively in that role throughout every day the worker performs his/her duties. BUT.....all it takes is a firm tug on the stick and it will separate from it's carriage, allowing for use of the stick in it's
    secondary
    defensive role.
The stick can be used as shown in the 4th photo so that if ever needing to separate for self defense, the stick will be positioned with the bare tip immediately available once released from it's carriage, with the rubber "palm swell" fully enclosed within the user's closed fist ready to be used to forward thrust and repel an attack. Alternatively, VERY effective and powerful "ice pick" style hammer fist strikes can be used, as shown in photos 6 & 7.
No special training is required to "remember" how to initiate these defensive actions, ........as jabbing, punching, and hammer fist striking are all natural human responses that can't be forgotten!
There is something quite disconcerting upon "seeing" even a short and blunt metal rod being directed at "your" face repeatedly in a jabbing motion, and so an attacker may never actually be struck with your initial strikes yet decide to back down.
I have an old friend I've known and worked with for about 20 years, and it was actually a bit comical watching him shy away from, and bring his hands up to "defend" his face as I SLOWLY brought the stick into close proximity, intending only to lightly "touch" key target areas to demonstrate the stick's defensive use.  He fully trusts me and KNEW I would never actually hit him,....yet the natural reaction is to "defend" and back away!
DON'T let the short stick size deceive you,....there is something
    quite
disconcerting with a rod of metal being jabbed at your face, and hammer fist strikes to the collar bone, chest, and head can be quite painful!
The Titanium rod shown is .44" in diameter, and is much stronger than traditional wooden or aluminum defensive sticks, and impervious to the elements so won't rust or corrode.
I have been working on this style for some time now, (along with several other defensive stick designs offered in my other listings :-),.... and have recently filed for a US Utility Patent covering the various modes of carriage and methods of construction.
I would not have invested "five $ figures" for completing a rather lengthy Patent Filing had I not believed,
(in the world we live in today!)
    .....that EVERYONE should be carrying
    at least one
defensive stick device, if not more!  That does not include an also substantial outlay for material and tool costs used to produce them.
I make these up in small batches of 5-10 pieces, and they are time consuming (45-50 minutes each), and abrasive materials "eating", so the pricing is where it needs to be.  All the more so when the substantial Patent Filing and Legal representation costs are considered,....
    Thanks for your consideration.
    ALSO,....PLEASE
make sure Yawara and Kubotan style sticks are legal to carry in your Country, State, City, or Town
    before
purchasing. Some areas may have restrictions on such things, and I cannot possibly know about every specific law in every area of the world. :-)  Your purchase confirms you have complied with your local laws. Thank You.
    NOTE:
On all of my sticks like this using a separating hose carriage, I use a little lubricant.  I am currently using just a light film of pure Silicone Grease within the carriage hose connection. This is available at most Hardware Stores in the plumbing section, and Dive shops carry it also. It seems to work very well in this application, and does not dry out as readily as Vaseline does.  It doesn't take much to get the job done, so apply sparingly! I used Vaseline initially because most folks already had it at home,......but have found the Silicone Grease lasts longer between applications so is better suited to this use.
Applying just a light "film" will affect a very S-M-O-O-T-H release when reasonable force is applied.    It doesn't take much when applied with a Q-Tip to the inside of the rubber hose connection, and a little on the shaft that enters the hose. If you've used too much, just wipe away the excess until you achieve the release "feel" you want, but is still secure. Re-apply the lubricant as necessary.....
Also, my stick versions without an end cap as shown in my "other items" are more of a cross between the traditional Yawara & Kubotan stick shapes and sizes. They will offer a size closer to a "fortified" Kubotan, but as effective as the larger Yawara in a much more compact size that make simple pocket carry discrete and virtually invisible.
The usual grooving of the Kubotan in an effort to gain some grip just doesn't work for me, and I have just a medium sized hand. It's already rather thin, so carving out some of the gripping area makes little sense, and always seem a bit slippery to me.  The usual Yawara sticks generally are TOO BIG for discreet carry in most cases, ....
and that bulk is rather noticeable even "if" you have a pant pocket deep enough to fully swallow it! :-)
Additionally, as part of the ergonomic design, the preferred sizing of the central grip area (on my cap-less sticks) is about 1-13/16 inches long. This will allow the user to effectively "lock" the stick into a closed fist for powerful "ice pick" style hammer fist strikes (with plenty of the stick tip exiting the fist on each end),....OR,... position the hand with thumb on top for effective forward thrusting strikes.
With the inside edge of the first finger wrapped around the rod and butted up against the comfortably tapered top edge of the grip, ....and the inside edge of the forth (pinky) finger wrapped around and butted up against the similarly tapered lower edge of the grip,......It's LOCKED in place with a closed fist! (AKA "Fist-Lock
    ™)
It's tough to describe how solid and comfortable this feels,.....but I wouldn't have invested so much time and money into this were it not a significant improvement in the "art" of  Yawara and Kubotan sticks.

    ALSO
As another justifiable reason to be carrying this daily, it works very well as a "Pill Crusher" for those of you desiring your medications to be crushed and mixed into water or another liquid. This is known to lessen stomach upsets and other common side effects of taking medications.  I use a small bottle cap as a "mortar" to contain the pill powder created as you use this stick as a "pestle" to grind up the pills, and transfer the powder to the liquid of your choosing for consumption.
