WWI USMC M1915 Enlisted Summer Service Uniform; Constabulary Detachment, USMC; Port Au Prince, Haiti
This uniform was used in Haiti during the 1st CACO WAR, during the Banana Wars by Corporal C. S. Christian.

USMC P1915 Enlisted Summer Tunic:
Khaki cotton service coat with two pleated pockets on the breast. This piece has two welted gore seams running down from the neck to the breast pockets. 5 oxidized bronze buttons down the front from 1915-1928. High standing collar. This tunic has NO VENTS.
THERE ARE NO PUNCHED HOLES OR WORKING EYELETS IN THE COLLAR TO ACCOMMODATE BRASS EGA INSIGNIA *****

There are three Marines listed in the lining of this tunic.
Two of the Marines Private John W. White & Private W. M. Benner never made it to the rank of Corporal. Both were courtmartialed. PVT J W White was sanctioned for the distribution of a sheet while in Washington DC. He was demoted and fined. He was given an honorable discharge in 1917.
Private W M Benner went AWOL and was dishonorably discharged in 1916.
The third US Marine marked within the upper right sleeve served
with in the period of
Oct 1916 through J
an 1921 and made rank of Corporal. The others didn’t make Corporal.

He achieved the rank of Sergeant and served up through the 1930’s.
This uniform was in use from 1915 through 1926. The collar devices were added by USMC in 1920. C S Christian was a Corporal from September 1919 through March 1922. This is the period that this tunic would have been used.
C. S. Christian served through the 1930’s. I will include as much of his service record that I can at purchase.
